The former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col Sambo Dasuki, (rtd) has informed the justice Peter Affen-led Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja that President Muhammadu Buhari should be blamed for his continued incarceration.

Speaking through his legal representative, Joseph Daudu, the embattled former NSA said Buhari during the Presidential Media Chat in December 2015, instigated his continued detention despite been granted bail by three different courts.

Dasuki is currently standing trial for allegedly diverting funds meant for the procurement of arms in the fight against Boko Haram into the private pockets of some high profile individuals.

The former NSA in an affidavit filed before the court by his counsel, said Buhari betrayed his emotions during the media chat when he told Nigerians that he and the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, could not be released on bail because they would jump bail.

Daudu prayed the court to prohibit the trial of his client until the Federal Government is made to answer for contempt of court, adding that the court should also enforce Dasuki’s bail earlier granted him.

Counsel to the Federal Government, Rotimi Jacobs who opposed the application said the charge against Dasuki was at the instance of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and not the Department of State Service, DSS.

Rotimi said the Federal Government did not disobeyed court order as Dasuki was released from Kuje Prison on December 29, 2015 when he perfected his bail but was, however, rearrested by another government agency.
