Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, presidential aspirant under the Young Progressive Party (YPP) is taking a bashing on social media for hiring communications company Red Media as social media consultants for his 2019 presidential bid.
Several young Nigerians have taken to micro-blogging site Twitter to raise credibility and ethical concerns about his choice of Red Media considering the role the company played in the 2015 presidential election that saw Muhammadu Buhari emerge as President.
Below are some tweets:
1. Red Media ran a successful Buhari campaign
2. Proprietors of RedMedia are promoters of 67MillionYouth
3. 67MillionYouth work hand in hand with RedCard Movement
4. RedCard Movement & RedMedia support Moghalu’s campaign…
Now, piece together the puzzle. What do you see?

I know Airheads will soon takeover this Red media/Moghalu gist..
He’s already cancelled cos he won’t even win his constituency/state.
No strength to argue blindly.

Yes, those same guys who sold us a dictator wrapped in propaganda and spiced with lies, are the same people allegedly in bed with Moghalu.
I’m beyond disappointed.
Not at Red Media, who do an amazing job influencing electoral outcomes for a significant fee, but at Kingsley.

I am really surprised that some of you’re surprised that Red Media is behind Kingsley Moghalu.
Lol. Smell the coffee guys.

Please let me interject. I personally don’t have a problem with Kingsley Moghalu or Red Media, but it is my duty – as someone in another camp – to derail his campaign by pointing to the likely unethical practices of his PR firm.

Regarding the budding outrage on the TL about @MoghaluKingsley‘s contractor, @RedMediaAfrica, I’d like to know if it is necessary for a Presidential aspirant to make the details of (all) their contractors known; and why.

Kingsley Moghalu and Red media? ????
See why I insist on supporting the PDP in 2019?
I better support those with clear opposition intentions! https://t.co/5AORUABzqB— SavePlateauLives (@faith_anza) August 21, 2018
My brother if it’s red media,it doesn’t make sense, let him find another political agency, fresh new ,not the old block

I largely agree with you.
But it should also matter that Red Media sold Nigerians a bill of goods.
Nothing wrong with calling them out.— Deji Ayeni (@dhippo78) August 22, 2018
HAAAAAAAAAAY GOD RED MEDIA IS IN CHARGE OF @MoghaluKingsley CAMPAIGN????
YOU GUYS: pic.twitter.com/fPh7rNGjdt— Bolouere (@boluxxxx) August 21, 2018
Red Media put words in Buhari’s mouth. They ran his public SM engagement.
I assume they’re doing the same for Moghalu. When he speaks, are we hearing him or Red Media?
Look, this is a problem for me. I expected a higher standard from him.
If you’re ok with it that’s fine, too.
— Ose Anenih (@Papadonkee) August 22, 2018
I have NO FAITH in red media. Same way I have no faith in herbalists.
But it will not stop me from speaking up against both. Because both are wrong and harmful to those who believe them.We should always speak up against what is wrong.

Hmm Red media people… Fear them. They are not to be trusted at all. @MoghaluKingsley needs to have a rethink. Image of Redmedia is ruined. Btw @MoghaluKingsley may need to tell us sources of his fund cos Redmedia I not cheap. https://t.co/psr2k4ACpT

But yeah. All the best to KM. Hopefully I’d be in NY for the elections. Or maybe Colombia. Who knows?
— Tweety Bird (@PurpletweetyB) August 22, 2018
Nobody is. KM is my man. Showcasing that Ndi Igbo nwere mmadu. But there needs to be a level of transparency on things. Chude and co. Chided and insulted people on the grounds of supporting buhari. They are the face of red media.
KM using them is simply bad for his image— Ifeanyi (@Cicerorian_) August 22, 2018
Oh, Chude/Red Media is running Kingsley Moghalu’s campaign? LOL
— Gold ✨ (@MsTariah) August 22, 2018
Red Media’s record is very dodgy.
We all know that, even despite claims it was just a professional contract, Red Media founders proved to be very pro-Buhari for about 3 years after their contract expired.
Now, they’re suddenly working with Moghalu on the low?!
— Yemi Web Master (@ScarTissue101) August 22, 2018
It’s quite a thing when the name ‘Red Media’ is enough to derail a candidate’s campaign.
It seems to me that Red Media needs its own PR advisers.
In modern politics, choices have consequences. Even PR companies can’t escape the consequences of their choices…
