Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed the arrival of midfielder Mohamed Elneny from Basel.

The 23-year-old Egyptian international will cost the Premier League side around £5 million and will be available to face Stoke at the weekend.

“He has joined us and we will see if he can qualify for Sunday,” the Arsenal manager said after their draw with Liverpool.

Work permit issues had held up the deal for a week but they have now been resolved.

Elneny has 39 caps for Egypt and has spent the last three years plying his trade in the Swiss League.
