Buhari Touches Down in Kaduna, Ferried to Abuja in Helicopter

President Muhammadu Buhari has returned home after extended medical leave in the UK.

Buhari walked unaided from his plane after it landed at an air force base in the northern city of Kaduna. The former military ruler then boarded a waiting helicopter.

The 74-year-old, who took power in May 2015, left Abuja on January 19 for treatment in Britain.

Eyewitnesses in Kaduna said the President didn’t appear healthy at all. Pictures of the President also show him looking frail.

An informed source told SIGNAL on Friday his sudden arrival back in Nigeria may not be unconnected to fears in the Buhari cabal over the increasing popularity of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo whose proactive strides since he stepped in as Acting President has won him the love and admiration of Nigerians across political divides. “They needed his return to the country to slow him (Osinbajo) down”, the source said.

SIGNAL could not reach presidential spokespersons, Garba Shehu and Femi Adesina for comments at the time of this report.
