Cambridge Analytica Hacking: Nothing to Show Buhari Had an Email in 2015 – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to claims by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that during the 2015 presidential elections, the then ruling PDP hacked into candidate Muhammadu Buhari’s email, using the services of Israeli hackers, thereby compromising Nigeria’s national security.

The Guardian of London had reported that Israelis hacked President Muhammadu Buhari’s email in 2015 and gave the materials to Cambridge Analytica.

According to the report, it was part of plans of the PDP to influence the 2015 elections.

But the PDP in its reaction said there was nothing to show that Buhari had an email (address) as of 2015 and that if he had, he might not even be able to access it.

“Instead of talking of 2015, the PDP asked the APC to focus on the plight of Nigerians and how to deliver them from hunger and starvation, which it alleged the regime had brought upon them”, the PDP said.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, who spoke with Punch, asked the APC to tell Nigerians what it had done to ease the problems it brought on the citizens since it assumed power about three years ago.

He said, “Who is talking about the hacking of email? Did the President have an email as of then? If he had, was he able to even access it?

“We are talking about the plight of Nigerians under a government that lacks focus and they are talking about the hacking of an email that was not in existence.

“Will this be their campaign slogan in 2019? Is this what will bring food to the table of Nigerians and also pay the salaries of civil servants? This government is indeed demented.”
