CAMPUS SIGNAL | Globacom Unveils Glo Campus Booster in Nigeria

Globacom has launched the Glo Campus Booster for university students and staff in Nigeria, ThisDay reported. It provides up to eight times more data value for use of Glo lines on campuses. For instance, an NGN 200 data recharge will provide subscribers with 400 MB of data, which is eight times more than the 50 MB one normally gets with a NGN 200 top-up. In the same vein, a recharge of NGN 500 will give 1 gigabyte of data on campus.

The service is available on all Nigerian campuses nationwide, including military, police, customs and immigration training institutions. Glo Campus Data Plans can be given as gifts to other subscribers. As soon as a subscriber on the Campus Data Plan enters a school campus anywhere in Nigeria, she or he receives a flash message telling them that they have entered a Glo Campus Zone.

Globacom decided to offer the Campus Booster after it realised that there was a dearth of internet facilities on Nigerian campuses. The social secretary of the University of Lagos, Roland Onyeka, said the Campus Booster would life easier and cheaper on campus. It would facilitate research and assignments that need to be put on PDF files. It will also keep people more on the campus, as they can now download their favourite films without going out.
