Champions League: I’m Ready to Face Qarabag – Hazard

Eden Hazard is ready to kickstart his season and plans to end it with the Champions League trophy in his grasp.

The mercurial midfielder wants to start tomorrow’s opening group stage at the Bridge against Qarabag and feels he’a ready after his ankle injury.

“I feel ready, ready to be part of the team,” said Hazard who came off the bench in the later stages of the 2-1 at Leicester City on Saturday.

“I had the chance to play with the national team also last week, I did a good job there. Since one month now, I’ve been working hard to be fit.

“On Tuesday, we have the Champions League so I’m just happy to be on the pitch.”
So how tough was it last season not playing in the Champions League?

“As a player you want to play In the tournament,” he did.

“Last year we just watched on TV – it’s not a good feeling, you want to play in this kind of game because every time you play Champions League, it’s a big game. Everyone is watching you, so, yeah, happy to be back.”

Was it painful was it watching on the telly at home?

Hazard confessed not to be a big TV watcher.

“I don’t like to watch game, I just like to watch my brother play. That’s why I watched the Champions League. But of course as a player, like I said before, we want to play.”

With Chelsea and before in Lyon, Hazard has won just about every domestic trophy bar the Champions League and he wants to complete the set.

“Yeah, this year is important. I have only got to the semi-final when we lost to Atletico Madrid. So it’s in my head to win this trophy, I won the Premier League and the same in France. Now all the big players want to win the Champions League. I think now is time to win this. We have a good squad, good manager, so now we are ready for that.
And if he never won it?

Laid-back Hazard is not bothered.?

“No problem,” he said. “I try to give everything on the pitch, if I win, I’m happy, if I don’t win, no regrets.

Goals by Alvaro Morata and N’Golo Kante secured the three points that put the Blues up to third in the Premier League.
