The Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of Ovation Media Group, Bashorun Dele Momodu, has added another feather to his ever flourishing cap as he becomes the proud recipient of the prestigious honorary doctorate degree of the University of Professional Studies, Accra, Ghana.
The award, which will be bestowed on the veteran journalist at the University’s 8th Congregation on July 30, 2016, is in “recognition of his outstanding contribution and great distinction to the world of business, politics, literature and the media industry”.
According to a release by the school’s management, “Chief Momodu is a Nigerian business man, journalist/publisher, philanthropist, motivational speaker and former presidential aspirant. He is the CEO and Publisher of Ovation International, a magazine that has given publicity to people from all over the world, mainly in Africa. He also owns Ovation TV and online newspaper called The Boss.”
The University of Professional Studies (formerly known as Institute of Professional Studies) was founded in 1965 as a private professional business education tuition provider. It was taken over by government in 1978 by the Institute of Professional Studies Decree, 1978 (SMCD 200). It was subsequently established as a tertiary institution with a mandate to provide tertiary and professional education in Accountancy, Management and other related areas of study by the Institute of Professional Studies Act, (Act 566), 1999. The university was the first and is still the only public institution with the mandate to offer both academic degrees and provide training for higher professional education in Ghana.
