Despite Ebola Scare Nigeria Will Go Ahead With DR Congo Friendly – NFF

Ahead of the Super Eagles’ pre-World Cup international friendly against DR Congo, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr. Melvin Amaju Pinnick, has played down suggestions that the game will be called off due to the recent Ebola cases and deaths recorded in DRC, AOIFootball.com reports.

The NFF boss, who was speaking on Channels Television on Monday morning, assured Nigerians that all logistics for the game were already in place and that fans in and outside Port Harcourt should come out en masse to support the Eagles.

“The game against Congo will go on 100% because we have taken into consideration every health possibility; but the area affected is a very remote village in Congo and besides, 98% of their players are foreign-based so there is no reason to panic.

“They are flying into Port Harcourt 6 pm on Friday which is the 25th, three days before the match and the aircraft will wait to take them back to their destination.

Just to be cautious, we have officially written to the Ministry of Health to give us cover, so they will be tested on arrival and when they are about to leave,” Pinnick concluded.

The Super Eagles will confront DR Congo on Friday the 28th of May in their 3rd World Cup build-up game at the Adokieye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
