The Umbrella Force, a frontline youth group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called for cooperation among all Pro-PDP online groups ahead of the July 14 gubernatorial election in support of the PDP candidate, Professor Kolapo Olushola Eleka and his Deputy in Ekiti State.
In a press conference held in Abuja, the group said this call has become necessary going by the antics of the opposition that is hell bent on seizing power in the state by hook or by crook, including the cloning of PVC’s & disenfranchisement of the electorate in connivance with the electoral umpire, INEC.
While soliciting for cooperation among all PDP Online groups that may have felt neglected in the build up to the election in any form, the group has called on the Eleka Campaign Organization to provide an all inclusive platform & to give all stakeholders a sense of belonging in the campaign, in view of the stakes in Ekiti, which they consider to be much higher than any individual. They said all hands must be on deck to make sure the Peoples Democratic Party emerges victorious in the election as a win for Eleka is a win for the PDP.
Speaking further, the Media Director of the group, Mr. Oluyemi Fasipe said a win for the PDP in Ekiti will rub off in Osun State whose gubernatorial election is also around the corner. He therefore asked all groups to put their differences aside & work together for the sole purpose of the Party.
They have therefore proposed as follows:
- Wednesday 11th – Friday 13th of July as days set aside for online campaigns by all Pro-PDP online groups on their various platforms with the hashtag #EkitiIsPDP | Time 10am daily
- Monitoring and reporting on the election on Saturday July 14 with the same hashtag
The group also warned against complacency & over confidence ahead of the polls while asking all members to be vigilant. They said all effort must be made to forstal a repeat of what happemed in Edo & Ondo States where Federal might played a major part in determining the result of the elections.
It will be recalled that Ekiti State is the only PDP State in the entire South West after Governor Ayodele Fayose defeated the Fayemi-led APC government in 2014.
