FAMILY AFFAIR | Peace in the Offing as Elders Wade Into Davido-Momodu Drama

There are strong indications that the ongoing child abduction saga between music superstar Davido and his babymama Sophie Momodu will soon be over and put behind both parties, SIGNAL can report.

Investigations by SIGNAL into recent developments on the matter have revealed that a truce seems to be in sight as some senior citizens and elders have waded into the conflict. “A resolution is in the offing. Some elders have intervened in the matter. Both families are now talking again and within the next couple of hours, it is hoped that the crisis would have been resolved and buried forever”, an informed source who did not want to be named told this newspaper.

Davido and his babymama Sophie Momodu have been embroiled in a child abduction scandal since December 29, 2015 which led to many unpleasant revelations, media and social media exchanges between both parties.

In a new twist on Wednesday, Publisher of Ovation International, Chief Dele Momodu had described as disheartening, the involvement of one Dr Ola Balogun in the ongoing controversy.

Dr Ola Balogun, a veteran movie maker and musician had abandoned filmmaking and jumped into the Davido babymama saga attacking the Momodus for their role in the matter.

In a letter to The Nation newspaper, on Wednesday, Balogun wrote: “I was heartbroken to read about what young Mr. Adeleke has been going through at the hands of Mr. and Mrs. Dele Momodu and their neice (or cousin?). If Davido’s account is true, the activities of the Momodus deserve to be roundly condemned by all right-thinking Nigerians. Shouldn’t the baby’s interests be paramount? As for the mother of the baby, she should be thoroughly ashamed of herself for having inflicted so much pain and suffering on her child as a result of her alleged drug habits.”

But in his reaction, Chief Momodu noted that while many well-meaning Nigerians had stepped in to intervene in the face-off between Davido and the mother of his baby Ms Sophia Momodu, who happens to be Chief Momodu’s cousin, Balogun, a senior citizen chose to cast aspersions on him (Momodu) for reasons best known to both of them.

According to Chief Momodu, “In a well-circulated comment he made in newspapers and on social media, Wednesday January 6, 2016, Dr Balogun maliciously attacked Sophia and I without caring to find out what led to the present debacle. I had the highest regards for Dr Balogun and had always responded to his calls and text messages to my London line most times. I wish to apologise to him publicly if I have not been able to attend to his certain demands but it is regrettable that he would retaliate through this vengeful manner. Though I bear the same title of Bashorun with my late mentor Chief Moshood Abiola, I’m just an ordinary journalist of very modest means. Let me assure Dr Balogun that elders like him have brokered peace between the families and by the grace of God we should have good news sooner than later. Dr Balogun should please bury whatever animosity he has against me and join others in reconciling the families instead of pouring petrol into the conflagration.”

We understand Davido is trying to take care of his baby but you can’t leave the mother out of whatever care you give her child.it was a good attempt but was carried out in a wrong manner.isolating d mother and forcefully taking the child in d name of medical treatment? No!
