Federal High Court Declares AVM Alfa Rightful Winner of Kogi East Senatorial Election

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday declared Air Vice Marshal Isaac Alfa (rtd) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) the rightful winner of the Kogi East Senatorial rerun elections.

It will be recalled that Senator Atai Aidoko Ali was earlier declared the winner of the PDP primary elections, proceeded to represent the PDP at the polls and was declared winner of the senatorial election, which was contested, by the PDP and other parties.

Tuesday’s decision of the Federal High Court Abuja upturned Aidoko’s election in favour of Alfa, also of the PDP.

The All Progressives Congress did not participate in the election as the party was barred from taking part in the polls by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

More details to come.
