FIFA is on My Case Because I Supported Blatter – Amos Adamu

Former FIFA executive member, Mr Amos Adamu, has said that his latest investigation by FIFA is not unconnected with his support for the suspension of Sepp Blatter by the ethics committee.

Adamu told newsmen in Abuja on Thursday that FIFA lacked the basis for commencing another investigation against him after his three-year ban.

“One paper was making reference to the first issue I had with FIFA that I asked them to give me money to buy pitches.

“Yesterday I saw my name that they are investigating me; they have not communicated to me yet and I want them to communicate to me before I react to whatever they want to say.

“The issue that happened before has happened and If there was any other issue that was involved, they would have said it that time.

“If they have any other new evidence they want to bring, then, let them bring it, I am equal to the task to answer the issue.

“You know I was very vocal that they must follow the rules; Blatter must go on suspension, Platini must go on suspension and they did just that.’’

According to the former CAF executive member, his allegedly being witch-hunted has cost him the opportunity of taking over reins of power from CAF President Isa Hayatou, now acting FIFA president.

“I told you the reason why they banned me that time; I was the only one they gave three years.

“Initially, I was going to be CAF president; they thought Hayatou will go. The election was in two years, so, they said I cannot contest; I said `yes sir, I cannot contest’.

“Let’s wait for them to tell me why they are investigating me, they must write me anyway.’’

Adamu was banned from all football activities in 2010 for three years over the allegation that he asked for money in exchange for World Cup votes, an accusation he has since denied.

He is now under investigation for alleged breach of FIFA’s code of ethics.
