FLASH | Nigerian Senate Rejects Sale of National Assets

SENATE CHAMBER DURING THE INAUGURATION OF THE 8TH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY IN ABUJA ON TUESDAY (9/6/15). 3023/9/6/2015/CH/BJO/NAN

The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday rejected the proposed sale of national assets by the federal government.

Premium Times reports that the Senate took the decision at its resumed plenary after extensive deliberation.

Following advice from some of Nigeria’s top business moguls including Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, the Buhari administration proposed the sale of some of Nigeria’s asset to revive the economy. Many Nigerians have opposed the move, arguing that previous sales barely helped the nation’s economy.

More to come.
