Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has been named as one of the keynote speakers at the African Development Conference to be held at Harvard University.
Mr. Mahama, according to organisers, will touch on his experience leading Ghana through massive infrastructure development and his work focusing on jobs, stability, and development.
The event slated for March 31 to April 1, 2017 will revisit the enduring, yet dynamic and elusive, concept of “Pan-Africanism” as it takes shape in the twenty-first century and invite conversations on the increasing importance of cross-border and international cooperation and partnership for the continent.
The conference will explore creative, collaborative approaches to African challenges and opportunities. These include governance and human rights, education, infrastructure, public health, gender and income inequality, Africa’s economies and urban development.
It is also expected to bring together policy makers, innovative business leaders, accomplished academics, leaders of civil society organizations and other distinguished individuals to foster productive dialogue about Africa’s future.
The event endeavors to move beyond raising awareness about the challenges facing Africa by highlighting innovative thinking and promoting those who are working to effect real change in their country or throughout the continent.
Other keynote speakers are Adv Thulisile (Thuli) Nomkhosi Madonsela, Forbes Africa Person of the Year 2016 and Mrs. Folorunso Alakija, a businesswoman who was listed among Forbes’ 100 Most Powerful Women in the world. Nigerian journalist and former presidential candidate Chief Dele Momodu will also speak at the conference.
Recall that Mahama was recently honoured with African Political Leader of The Year 2016 Award, put together by the African Leadership Magazine in South Africa. Prior to that, he was the Keynote speaker at the Kenyan Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), where he delivered lecture on “The Economy In The Light of Elections And Conducting Free And Fair Elections.”
