Helpless Oshodi Traders Lament Ambode’s Demolition of Shops, Goods [VIDEO]

The Lagos State Government has announced the shutdown of the popular Oshodi Market in Lagos over “insecurity”. But the traders say that they were not given any kind of notice to vacate the market ahead of the demotion.

The traders say that the government demolition agents took them by surprise and even prevented them from removing their goods from their shops.

A man, who identified as a special advisor to the former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola is seen in the Sahara Reporters video below, denouncing the methods of the Akinwunmi Ambode led government in carrying out the demolition exercise. He says that the traders’ unions ought to have been engaged and an alternative location created for the traders before this exercise was carried out.

Some men could be seen trying to salvage some items from the rubble.

Most of the affected traders appear to be indigenes of the South East states.
