The Goa police on Monday arrested a Nigerian accused of raping a 39-year-old woman near Mapusa town in North Goa district.
Superintendent of Police north Umesh Gaonkar, while talking to reporters, confirmed that a team of Mapusa police from North Goa caught the accused at Panvel, who was trying to escape from Goa in a train. The accused will be brought to Goa on Monday evening.
The lady was waylaid by two Nigerian nationals at Parra village on Sunday evening. One of the two men took her to a room at knife point and raped her.
A case has been registered under Sections 365, 506, 342, 376 of the Indian Penal Code.
