Liverpool Beat Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge

Kingsley Kanayo

Chelsea on Saturday crashed down 3-1 to an imperious Liverpool side at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues took the lead with less than five minutes played when Ramires headed them in front, but Philippe Coutinho scored in injury time in the first half, then added a second after the break.

Christian Benteke finished it off with 10 minutes left to hand Jurgen Klopp his first Premier League win since taking over from Brendan Rodgers earlier this month.

There was a lot of consternation over the £32million spent on Christian Benteke during the summer, but today he showed precisely why he was bought and what he can bring on board as he completely battered the Chelsea backline in his 30 minute cameo.

Despite battling with fitness, his ability to challenge aerially, to back in, to hold up play and offer a platform, gave his teammates something to move towards in the later stages. He played his part in the second, he notched the third.

It was a big win for Klopp, and maybe an even bigger defeat for Mourinho.
