Donald Trump has escalated a nasty feud with Ted Cruz by posting an unflattering image of his rival’s wife on the internet.
It came a day after Mr Trump threatened to “spill the beans” on Heidi Cruz, apparently referring to her brief battle with depression a decade ago.
In his latest attack the billionaire shared an image, originally posted by one of his Twitter followers, which showed Mrs Cruz grimacing.
Alongside it was a photograph of Mr Trump’s own wife Melania who is a former model.
The caption read: “No need to spill the beans. Images are worth a thousand words.”

Mr Cruz, the property mogul’s closest rival in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, responded: “Donald, real men don’t attack women.Your wife is lovely, and Heidi is the love of my life.”
He added: “I will say, even for Donald, he’s reached a new low. It’s one thing to try to attack another candidate, it’s another thing to come after my wife.
“Donald Trump doesn’t scare Heidi remotely. That’s gutter politics. Donald knows that.”
The feud began after an anti-Trump group published an advertisement featuring a naked photograph of Mrs Trump from her modelling days.
Mr Trump accused Mr Cruz of being behind the advertisement, which Mr Cruz denied.
The businessman’s attack on Heidi Cruz once again focused attention on his treatment of women and sparked accusations of sexism and misogyny.
Mr Trump has engaged in an ongoing war of words with Fox News presenter Megyn Kelly, referring to her as a “bimbo”.
Early in the campaign he insulted fellow candidate Carly Fiorina, saying: “Look at that face. Would anyone vote for that?”
