Mayweather Retires After Crushing McGregor in Epic Fight

Floyd Mayweather has confirmed he will not step back in the ring competitively again after beating Conor McGregor with a 10th round stoppage.

The 40-year-old retired once from the sport back in 2015, equalling Rocky Marciano’s record of 49-0.

But the opportunity and fascination about a fight with UFC’s McGregor drew him back to the ring for one final swan song.

While McGregor shot out the blocks and landed some heavy shots, Mayweather remained composed and his boxing nous shone through in the later rounds.

The Irishman was eventually fatigued and was outboxed before Mayweather went in for the final blow with the referee judging he had seen enough in the 10th round.

Mayweather made a point before the fight he felt he needed to make it up to his fans for the way he bowed out last time.

But he believes this fight with McGregor was the perfect send-off to a professional career that has spanned 20 years.

“Rocky Marciano is a legend and I look forward to going down in the hall of fame one day.

“This was my last fight ladies and gentlemen.”
