NFF Threaten to Invoke Ban on Watford’s Isaac Success

Watford could be without Isaac Success at Middlesbrough if Nigeria invoke a FIFA rule to stop him playing amid doubts over his injury.

The 20-year-old striker, who became the Hornets’ record signing when he joined from Granada in a £12.5million deal in the summer transfer window, sat out of his country’s World Cup qualifier with Zambia in Ndola due to a knock picked up in the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth last weekend.

Bizarrely, Nigerian Football Federation spokesman Ademola Olajire acknowledged that Success had been struggling following the game at Vicarage Road, while the player posted a picture on Instagram showing him undergoing treatment.

But it’s now being reported in Nigeria that the NFF are questioning the validity of both Chelsea star Victor Moses and Success’ decision to withdraw and are now considering using a FIFA ruling which would enable them to prevent Success from lining up at the Riverside Stadium to face Boro in the Premier League on October 16.

A reported NFF source told Completesportsnigeria.com: “We are considering writing a protest to FIFA if we find out that they connived with their respective clubs to feign injuries and stay away from the matches.”
