NFF Wishes Sunday Oliseh Happy Birthday as Ex-Eagles Captain and Coach Turns 42

Sunday Ogorchukwu Oliseh best known as Sunday Oliseh is 41 today, Monday, September, 14.

Pulse reports that Oliseh is one of the most successful Nigerian football ever, winning a series of trophies including the 1994 African Cup of Nations and gold in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, United States with the Dream Team.

Oliseh was a physical, technical defensive midfielder who played for a number of European clubs like AFC Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus F.C.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) in a tweet on Wednesday congratulated the former national football team captain and coach.

Oliseh played 54 international matches and scored two goals for Nigeria playing in two FIFA World Cup tournaments.

He is mostly remembered for scoring the winning goal in the group stage match against Spain in the 1998 World Cup, as Nigeria prevailed 3–2.

With the game squared at 2-2, Oliseh fired a clearance into the corner of Spain’s net, to give Nigeria a famous victory over Spain.

After retiring from in January 2006, at the age of 31, Oliseh worked as a  pundit, sports consultant and in July 2015 was named coach of Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles.

He is currently serving as a member of the elite and prestigious FIFA Technical Study Group.
