Some Twitter users came down hard on Amina Mohammed, deputy secretary-general of the United Nations (UN), for supporting gay rights.
In a tweet on Saturday, Mohammed called for equal rights to be extended to gay, lesbians and bisexuals.
Let’s #Standup4HumanRights to #LeaveNoOneBehind & ensure a life of dignity for all. #Pride #AcceptanceMatters pic.twitter.com/lDp09Dg9dg

See the tweets from Nigerians below:
If this is what it means for Northern women to get educated and go to high places, then curse on their education & going to high places.
Your education, your civilization & your appoitment at the UN could be a curse to you. Remember, you ll account for all your actions.

Let me make it clear to you, after million years of education or rather western education my religion will always come first. I don’t know how you can accept this filthy act against man and nature but it can never be me or any Muslim for that matter.

A Muslim from the North supporting gays and lesbians which was prohibited in the Quran. You just lost the respect millions of Nigerians have for you

One of the ills of western education. How can a sane person promote this?
If this is fame, I rather go back to my creator with only the Islamic knowledge. I know it will save me in the hereafter. May Allah protect our families and relatives.

Madam, it would have been better if you declined that job. Supporting gay marriage is not same as supporting equal rights. We are believers and we are a people with culture. On this one, you are very wrong and as a Muslim woman, please think it well. This world is ephemeral.

Ya Allah dont make us so low that we endorse what You explicitly condemned! Ya Allah never test us in our Deen. Ya Allah forgive us and guide us! May Allah guide you @AminaJMohammed and give you the strength to be steadfast on His Deen. pic.twitter.com/lvPw138jKx

The woman right here, have outstepped the boundary of respect she got from me. Shame on you with your unacceptable education teaching. Remember whatever you say or do, you’ll be held accountable in the hereafter
