Officials from Nigeria’s House of Representatives have accused former president Olusegun Obasanjo of corruption during his term in office, Punch has reported.

The officials said this following a letter written to the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara by Obasanjo earlier this week.

The lawmakers, however, hit back at Obasanjo, describing his utterances as “misdirected”. They said they assumed his anger was meant to be directed at the 4th and 5th assemblies, not the current (8th) assembly, Vanguard reports.

Senator Dino Melaye, of the Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT), said in a statement on Thursday that the retired general was misplacing his anger.

According to Senator Melaye, Obasanjo was responsible for introducing corruption into the country while pursuing his ambition of a third term in office.
