The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps said on Saturday that it had deployed 250 armed operatives to provide security in the 30 public secondary schools in Yobe State.
The NSCDC Commandant-General, Abdullahi Muhammadu, who stated this in s statement, said the deployment followed the directive of the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, after the abduction of 110 students of Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State.
Punch reports that while 250 armed NSCDC personnel were deployed to 30 schools across Yobe, 500 personnel were deployed to Borno and 400 to Adamawa State.
It was gathered that specially-trained officers and men on Counter-Terrorism, Intelligence Operatives as well as desk officers on crisis management were among the NSCDC officers deployed for the operation.
In the statement by the Media Assistant to the CG, Soji Alabi, the NSCDC personnel would also hold regular meetings with the principals and other heads of schools in the provision of adequate security.
