Obasanjo, 2,000 Gospel Musicians Pray for Nigeria

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was represented at an event to pray for peace in the country at Ibadan on Wednesday.

No fewer than 2,000 gospel musicians were at the event convened by the Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria was held at the Molete Baptist Church, Challenge, Ibadan.

In his message delivered by Dr Doyin Okupe, Obasanjo lauded GOMAN for organising the maiden National Altar of Praise and Prayers for Nigeria.

The ex-Head of State said, “I deeply appreciate GOMAN’s commitment to lifting our country up before Almighty God through worship, praise and prayer, especially at this time in our nation’s developmental history.

“There is no doubt that we need divine guidance to ensure that our dear country continues to move inexorably in the direction of stability, peace and security, unencumbered growth, institutional reform and sustained development.”

The President of GOMAN, Funmi Aragbaiye, said she convened the event to seek God’s help to solve the security challenges facing Nigeria.

Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu was represented on the occasion by Mrs Irene Oshinbolu.

The Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Akindele; the leader of Molete Baptist Church, Rev Edward Alabi, represented the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev Supo Ayokunle, at the event.
