OP-UNEDITED | TMG, Oyegun and Igbokwe: Commissioned Agents of Fascism – By Ariyo-Dare Atoye

By Ariyo-Dare Atoye

In a piece I did on EkitiGate, I copiously asserted that there is an elaborate script the hawks in the Presidency are latching on for an anti-democracy project. Specifically I said the PDP has been marked for total annihilation, while any form of internal dissension in the APC must be subdued. Little did I know that among the ready-commissioned foot soldiers will so brazenly bare their stinking fangs at the eminent Justices of the Supreme Court. They have gone too far in ridiculing the bench to desperately please their paymasters; they have committed political sacrilege against the judiciary. It must not go unrewarded.

These folks are known for their wicked antics and inconsistencies like several others still pretending to be pro-democracy groups and human rights activists. They are characters of fickle minds. Some of them have been procured to help create a Fascist republic and give fillip to despotism. They supported the adoption of the card reader as an electronic-coup against the then ruling party, but not as a sincere innovation to improve our electoral process. They foresaw the lacuna in the electoral act on the use of the card reader but kept quiet. Isn’t it interesting that they said nothing when our courts ruled against the card reader in the case of Agbaje vs Ambode? Same folks.

Nigerians must be wary of these characters. Initially we were being treated to a well crafted conspiracy of silence by them, while the hawks unleashed hostility on the land. They pretended not to see anything wrong in the Directorate of State Security (DSS)  harassing and terrorising staff of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to subvert the judicial process on election matters. But immediately the Supreme Court rose up to protect democracy and consolidated it consistency in judgments on the card reader, which favoured all parties, they have suddenly changed the music, but unfortunately after the game has ended. They now want the Supreme Court to embark on an academic voyage of criminal discovery. Same people who saw nothing wrong in the massacre of Shi’ites, now want to conjure emotions over Rivers and Akwa Ibom States. Deluded minds.

The plot by a tiny few to deliberately turn our nation into a huge tinderbox as an excuse to justify dictatorship must be resisted by Nigerians. They thought stimulated press adulation will sway the minds of the judges at the Supreme Court. Sorry, these men have put in decades of meritorious service for this nation and will not be cajoled by the desperate antics of a contrived change that is very transient. For those who continue to pretend to be acting as the conscience of the nation but perverting democracy, shame on you. When God said He could raise stones to praise him, they have little understanding of this. Today, it is men and women from unlikely sources and on the social media that are defending the sanctity of our democracy.

Dear Nigerians, the judgements of the Supreme Court have successfully foiled the grand coup against democracy. The plot to foist a one party state on Nigeria with a pseudo opposition party to be created by political merchants has been nipped in the bud. But the hawks can still think of plan B, I don’t see them giving up. But as it is, the eminent justices of the Apex Court have helped to secure the future of our country.

Transition Monitoring Group (TMG)

I dare say that sacrificing your reputation to defend a transient hold on power is a disservice to democracy. This is a body which should now be concerned about a new electoral reform that will accommodate the use of card reader in the electoral act. What we expect from TMG is to prevail on INEC to release the national data on the card reader. They know that this will surely alarm the whole world and the conspiracy by a section of the civil society against our electoral process will become visible. I won’t be surprised if TMG will not support the inclusion of card reader in the electoral act. It will not amuse me.

This indictment of the Supreme Court by TMG should stop. You have the right to your opinion but not in this despicable manner: “As the foremost election observation coalition in the country, we see the Supreme Court judgments as clear cut attempts at legalising electoral robberies. These judgments, particularly on Rivers and Akwa Ibom States, have merely given judicial imprimatur to the damaging mind set of rapacious politicians who would stop at nothing in their bid to subvert the will of the people.” The international community is aware of your double standard TMG. Truth is constant.

Joe Igbokwe of Lagos APC: This man is clever by half but I love his sub. His style reminds one of the house rat that uses it nose to blow and pacify you while peeling off your foot. Igbokwe is constantly looking for every opportunity to sub the Presidency and the CPC wing of APC. He is still very bitter over the Kogi governorship matter and in the manner in which Bourdillon and ACN wing of APC are being treated. Let him just tell President Muhammadu Buhari that it is an economic waste to patronise BMW when Innoson is available rather than embarking on a needless political sail. He should be bold to say this to Mr. President directly: “Replace your Toyota/Honda fleet with Innoson.”

Is Igbokwe not morally bankrupt to question our eminent justices in this unfair manner?: “Now this unthinkable decision at the Apex Court has thrown up a lot of questions: Who are these Supreme Court Judges? Of what meat were they fed? Where are they coming from? What are their antecedents and pedigree? What is their background? Do we know their character? Who appointed them Judges? Was it on merit or just to create jobs for the boys? Can anybody educate Nigerians about these Judges? Do they know the agenda and the focus of this government? Do they live among us? What do they know about political corruption? What informed their decision to do what they did? What was on their minds as they were delivering this judgment? Justices of the Supreme Court are also Nigerians. We all buy from the same market. They too need money. They need to pay school fees for their Children abroad. They need to buy houses in choice areas of Nigeria. They love exotic cars also. They love good things of life. They can be corrupt too.” This statement must have originated from a perverse mind, full of fury but without sense. He will be addressed in full later.

John Oyegun (APC National Chairman): He is an old man that should know better. Oyegun is one of the reasons why Nigeria is crumbling economically because of this fixation on oil. Oyegun should know the implications of desecrating the bench at the highest level. To be misguided as old man under this contraption called change is a sad commentary.

Hear him: “I still find the judgment on the Rivers State governorship election totally astonishing. There is something fundamentally wrong in the Judiciary. We have lost very important resource-rich states to the PDP. No matter how crude oil prices have fallen, it is still the most important revenue earner for the country. There is obviously something fundamentally wrong in Rivers state which needs to be investigated and addressed.” It is a shame for an elderstateman to speak in this manner.

I wish to appeal to my lords to dismiss these unfortunate comments as “political efulefu” coming from disgruntled elements. Forgive them for they know not what they are doing. Our Justices will be the first to admit that they are fallible like every other human being. Only GOD is perfect. But I dare say that the Supreme Court is always guided by profound history of judgments to adjudicate on new cases at it disposal. If we must disagree with their positions, we should do so with decorum and profound respect.

Alert: There is a case coming up to the Supreme Court very soon that will expose the treachery in the APC. The nomenclature is: ACN wing of APC vs CPC wing of APC. It is on the Kogi governorship matter. You can also call it Igbokwe group vs Oyegun group. Will the Supreme Court be right when it favours one group? Terrible people!
