PDP Asks INEC to Nullify Oshiomhole, Others’ Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday asked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to nullify the outcome of the just concluded National Convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, with immediate effect.

Speaking while receiving the delegation of Party leaders from the Kaba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, its National Publicity Secretary, Hon Kola Ologbondiyan declared that the demand became necessary as the conduct of the National Convention violated the Electoral Act as amended which stipulated such exercise as electing Officers of political party must be done through voting.

Ologbondiyan stated that the Party on its own chose to ignore the provision of the Electoral Act, adopting voice voting to electing their National officials despite the fact that party members aspiring for various offices came to the Venue of the Convention to participate in the voting processes.

According to him, “Party members were openly harassed, beaten, humiliated and forced to withdraw at a gun point and thereafter announced their National officers through voice vote to affirm the illegality at the Eagle Square.

“When the PDP did a similar thing, INEC declared the convention null and void, so, we are calling on the Commission to do same to APC in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, as amended.”

Equally the Party called on the Economic and Financial Commission, EFCC, to probe the source of the N150million contributed by each APC governors towards hosting the Convention as well as the over N3.5 billion wasted by the Party on the Convention.

Ologbondiyan also urged the Commission to expedite action on the petition of alleged massive corruption against the new National Chairman of the Party, Comrade Adams Oshiomole pending before the commission since the APC-led Federal Government said that it was committing towards stamping out corruption in the county.

He told the delegation various efforts being made by new NWC of the Party to reposition and rebrand it towards regaining power come 2019 for the country to regain its lost glory.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation, Dr Stephen Olorunfemi, commended the new leadership of the Party towards its repositioning ahead of the 2019 general elections which he pledged that the party was set to regain Kogi State for PDP.
