PDP Govs Were Planning to Impose Jimi Agbaje as Chairman – Dokpesi

One of the contenders for the position of National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, Raymond Dokpesi, has said that the postponement of the convention in Port Harcourt was  “a blessing in disguise.”

According to a report by Punch newspapers, he also alleged that governors of the party were planning to impose Mr. Jimi Agbaje on the party as the national chairman before the convention ran into a hitch.

Dokpesi stated this in a statement issued by his Media Aide, Mr. Omor Bazuaye in Abuja, on Saturday.

Dokpesi said shifting the convention in Port Harcourt following the closure of the convention ground by soldiers and police would afford members of the party the opportunity to resolve the leadership crisis in the party.

Dokpesi who had taken a tour of the country canvassing for support and votes of delegates said he arrived Port Harcourt only to be told that PDP governors had anointed the former PDP governorship candidate in Lagos State, Agbaje for the position.

He alleged that the governors went to lobby delegates from the North, asking them to obey the “micro zoning “ arrangement  which he said was unilaterally decided by them.

Dokpesi said, “When they brought the message to anoint Agbaje to the people, everybody started screaming that it was Raymond Dokpesi they want to vote for and so the Northern elders order them to go to the field”.
