Police Nab 14 Sacks Containing Thumb-Printed Ballots Papers in Kano

Kano State Police Command on Thursday morning impounded 14 sacks containing thumb-printed ballot papers in Sabon Gari area of the state.

The police said that preliminary investigation has shown that the ballots papers are specimens.

So far, 2 persons are being interrogated in connection to the arrest as the sacks are being kept at the command’ headquarters for further investigations.

The two suspects, however, have since denied that the ballot papers with Jigawa State designation were going to be used for anything contrary, but was meant to be used for voters enlightenment.

When contacted, Kano State HOD Voter’s Education and Public Enlightenment (INEC), Garba Lawal Muhammad said, the commission is yet to be briefed about the development.

According to him, the commission’s ballot papers are currently under security watch at the state CBN branch which no unauthorized persons can have access to.

Garba assured that every sensitive material needed for the election are safe and would be distributed to election centres as scheduled under tight security.
