Police Rescue Five Abducted Corps Members in Imo

The Imo State Police Command has rescued five corps members who were kidnapped in the state on Wednesday.

The corps members were abducted on their way to Rivers and Akwa Ibom states.

Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Dasuki Galadanchi, told journalists in Owerri, the Imo State capital, that the corps members were kidnapped along Owerri-Port Harcourt Expressway and taken to the Umuapu forest in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.

The kidnappers had established contact with the families of the corps members and demanded N5m ransom.

The CP, however, explained that, through intelligence gathering, the operatives of the Counter Terrorism Unit of the command rounded up the kidnappers and rescued the victims from the forest.
