‘He Prayed for Me on Saturday’ Odion Ighalo in Shock Over Father’s Death

Super Eagles and Watford of England striker, Odion Ighalo, has been left dumbfounded by the death of his father, Paul Ighalo, which happened in the early hours of Monday.

Ighalo posted a blank picture in all-black on Twitter with the words “R.I.P. Daddy” after learning of his father’s death overnight.

I lost my father early hours of today (Monday),” he later announced.

“He had complained of weakness before going to bed last night and they discovered by 2am this morning that he is gone.

“It is a very painful loss.

“I’m short of words at this moment. I can’t believe my dad is no more. I spoke to him on Saturday and he prayed for me. I never knew that would be the last time we would have a father-and-son conversation. I’m going to miss him a great deal because he has been the greatest motivator for me in my career,”Ighalo said.

Odion has always attributed his success on the pitch to God and his family, which he maintained has been his driving force. He told SIGNAL in an exclusive interview in February, “Without God in my life I am nobody. It has always been God and I always return all the glory to Him.”
