Rohr Meets Wenger, Chelsea Officials Over Iwobi, Mikel, Moses

Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr, is currently on a working tour of Europe, where he is expected to meet the clubs’ officials and the players he wants to invite for Nigeria’s Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria next month.

Already, the Franco-German has met top officials of Arsenal and Chelsea of England in London to discuss the availability of Alex Iwobi, John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) yesterday reported in its twitter handle that Rohr watched Arsenal’s English Leah League Cup game against reading on Tuesday and met with the club’s manager, Arsene Wenger, yesterday.

It also indicated that the Nigerian coach met with Chelsea’s director, Mike Emenalo, a Nigeria, and Super Eagles’ Captain, John Obi Mikel yesterday.The tweet read: “@NGSuperEagles T. A Gernot Rohr in London. Met with @Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger and @ChelseaFC’s Mike Emenalo & Captain @mikel_john_obi.”

A source at the NFF told The Guardian that Rohr’s visit was also to discuss with Chelsea Coach, Antonio Conte, the reason for Mikel’s continued absence from the first team’s first team, as he did with Leicester City Manager, Claudio Ranieri.

Nigeria will host Algeria in their second game of the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers in Uyo on November 12. The Eagles currently sit atop Group B of the African World Cup qualifiers with three points ahead of Algeria, Cameroun and Zambia.
