Siasia’s U-23 Dream Team Walloped 6-2 By Denmark

Nigeria’s U23 football team suffered a humiliating 6-2 defeat to Denmark in their latest game at the ongoing Suwon invitational in South Korea.

The Dream Team VI had lost 0-1 to the South Korea in their first game of the competition and expectations were high that Saturday’s game against the Scandinavians would provide a better result.

Denmark’s youngsters took the lead in the 26th minute when defender, Erhun Obanor diverted a cross into goal.

One-nil quickly became two-nil as Emil Larsen scored the game’s second in the 34th minute before be completed his brace in the 38th minute.

The Danish attacker was to complete his hattrick in the 54th minute as a sorry Nigeria side temporarily went 0-4 down.

Things quickly went from bad to worse for Nigeria as Patrick Da Silva and Emiliano Marcondes added goals numbers five and six for the Europeans on 62 and 75 minutes.

Taiwo Abdulrahman netted Nigeria’s consolation goals late on but it failed to paper the cracks on a very poor performance.

Head coach, Samson Siasia knows his work is cut out with the Olympics just two months away.
