Watford Appoint Walter Mazzarri as Their New Head Coach

Walter Mazzarri has been appointed as the new head coach at Watford and the Italian has signed a new three-year contract at the club. The former Inter Milan manager has a wealth of experience in Italy and the management will be hoping that he can replicate the success in his home country with the Hornets.

“Walter has been the target of a number of approaches for his services, so we’re delighted to secure him as Head Coach here at Watford. We’re thoroughly looking forward to working with such a highly-regarded coach, with the progress and development of the club always remaining the highest priority,” Watford’s CEO Scott Duxbury said of Mazzarri’s appointment on the club’s official website.

The manager will replace outgoing Spaniard QuiqueSanchez Flores who led his side to a 13th place finish and also helped them to the semi-finals of the FA Cup where they lost to Crystal Palace. Mazzarri has reached the Coppa Italia final with Sampdoria and Napoli, while also guiding the latter to a second placed finish in theSerie A.

However, his career has had its ups and downs, having been appointed the manager of Inter in 2013 where he finished fifth in his first season. He was then sacked in November 2014 with Inter struggling at ninth in the table and this current position would be his first since being out of a job following his departure from the San Siro.
