I Will Ensure Smooth Transition for Akeredolu – Mimiko
Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has congratulated his successor, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), of the All Progressive Congress (APC), on his victory in the Saturday, November 26 election.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Eni Akinsola, Mimiko said it behooves of him as governor, to congratulate Akeredolu and promised to ensure a smooth transition.
“It is incumbent upon me, as governor, to facilitate a smooth transition between my administration and the incoming one. I will, to this end, provide the ambiance for a smooth and seamless transition process,” he said.
The governor also expressed appreciation to the people of the state for their peaceful conduct during the election.
“I use this medium to express my sincere appreciation to all our citizens for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves throughout the election period. I will not waiver in providing needed leadership to our state till the last day of my term,” he said.
Also, governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Chief Olusola Oke has congratulated Akeredolu, even as he decried alleged monetisation of the election process.
Oke, in a statement issued in Akure, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agents for being fair in the handling of their duties, but regretted that “the open and free use of money to purchase votes during the election by the ruling party remains a sad commentary on the nation’s electoral process.”
This development, according to him, required urgent intervention by government if the much publicised anti-corruption agenda of the Federal Government must have meaning to Nigerians.
