SHAME | Soldiers, Police Engage In Shootout Over Sharing Of Rice For IDPs

There was a shootout between policemen and soldiers in Maiduguri Government  House over the distribution of rice allegedly meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) not living in camps, Daily Trust reports.

The shootout was said to have occurred when soldiers in a truck attempted to forcefully get a share of the rice being distributed to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) not living in camps.

It was learnt that the policemen at the camp refused the soldiers access to the camp to get the share of the  rice, a move that infuriated the soldiers, as a result a shootout ensued between both parties.

A police officer was reportedly injured in the crossfire.

Reacting to the incident, the 7 Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army, the unit in charge of the counter-insurgency efforts, and the Borno State Police Command have announced that they have launched an investigation into the fracas.
