Stallionaire Oil Depot Tank Explodes In Lagos

At Stallionaire Oil Depot in Ijegun, Satelite Town, Lagos State, a tank full of fuel exploded and caught fire, The fire started around 12.30pm on Wednesday. The fire consumed the whole tank and would have spread if not for the diligent response of the depot firefighters.

PUNCH Metro sources ascertained that what caused the explosion is yet unknown.

Men of the Lagos State Fire Service, the state emergency management agency, firefighters from Julius Berger Plc and Federal firefighters both responded to the call and worked together to put out the fire while security employees kept the premise safe.

Mr. Tiamiyu Adesina the General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, reported that there were no casualties from the situation and an investigation would be conducted. He urged managers of oil and gas companies to submit to a proper emergency response plan.

“The agency was alerted to a tank farm fire incident at Stallionaire Oil Depot, Ijegun Satelite Town. Consequently, the agency activated its emergency response plan with all the relevant stakeholders.

Emergency responders were on the ground to curtail the inferno to only the petrol tank, while other (AGO and DPK) tanks were salvaged.”
