Hollywood Star of Nigerian Descent, David Oyelowo Now a U.S. Citizen

Hollywood Star of Nigerian descent, David Oyelowo is now a U.S. citizen.

The 40-year-old Selma star was born in Oxford, but has been acting in America for several years and recently became a naturalised citizen.

Oyelowo let the news slip during an appearance on U.S. TV on Wednesday (28Sep16) morning, as he gushed about the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., which he attended.

“It was absolutely amazing, I felt so privileged,” he told breakfast show Good Morning America on Wednesday (28Sep16). “As someone who is from elsewhere… I just became a citizen… I just feel like that museum is an incredible testament to some of the bad stuff that has gone on in this country’s history. We need to know what went wrong to get things right and that’s what I feel that museum represents.”
