Nigerian Army Promotes 6,199 Soldiers Fighting Boko Haram

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, on Tuesday approved the promotion of 6,199 Nigerian Army soldiers fighting in the anti-Boko Haram Operation Lafiya Dole.

In a press release issued by Army spokesman Brigadier General Sani K. Usman, the soldiers were promoted to various ranks ranging from Lance Corporals to Warrant Officers.

He disclosed that 329 Staff Sergeants were promoted to Warrant Officers, 371 Sergeants were promoted to Staff Sergeants, and 707 Corporals were promoted to Sergeants.

Additionally, 1,290 Lance Corporals were promoted to Corporals and 3,502 Privates were promoted to Lance Corporals.

Brigadier General Usman said the COAS congratulated the newly promoted staff and commended them for their contributions to the fight against Boko Haram. He urged the staff to continue clearing Nigeria of Boko Haram terrorists.
