Libya Deports 240 Nigerians

At least 240 Nigerians stranded in Libya have been repatriated back to Nigeria.

The returnees arrived in the country on Tuesday around 3.45pm, through the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and were received by the officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, who assisted them with food and transport fares.

NEMA spokesperson, South-West zone, said the returnees had been dispatched to their various destinations.

He said, “The International Organisation for Migration facilitated the repatriation of 241 Nigerian returnees from Libya today (Tuesday).

“The breakdown indicates that 67 were females (six under 18 years and four under four years) and 174 males (three under 18 years and one under four years).

“Three of the sick returnees, two females and one male, are currently receiving medical treatments at LASUTH.

“NEMA received the returnees at the MMIA, Lagos, and gave them refreshments before facilitating their transportation to their respective states of origin with transport fares.

“The returnees are some of the stranded Nigerians seeking greener pastures in foreign land through Libya.”
