Enugu Gov Vows to Immortalize Legendary Music Icon Mike Ejeagha

The Enugu State Government has expressed profound sadness over the passing of music legend Mike Ejeagha, promising to immortalize his legacy.

Governor Peter Mbah, in a heartfelt post on his verified X platform, described Ejeagha as a “legend, cultural ambassador, and revered son of Enugu State.”

Mbah highlighted Ejeagha’s significant contributions to Nigerian culture, noting his unique ability to transform simple indigenous folktales into universally resonant songs. “His immense talent and genius lay in how he took simple indigenous folktales and turned them into unforgettable songs that resonate across cultures,” the governor said.

The governor lamented the void left by Ejeagha’s passing, describing it as a loss for his family, Enugu State, the music community, and the nation. “His death leaves a huge void that will be difficult to fill,” Mbah emphasized.

On behalf of the Enugu State Government, Mbah extended condolences to the Ejeagha family and pledged unwavering support during this difficult time. He also promised that the state government would ensure the music legend’s memory is “duly immortalised.”

The governor concluded with a prayer for the family, wishing them comfort and fortitude during this challenging period. Mike Ejeagha’s legacy as a champion of Igbo folklore and proverbs through his captivating highlife music will continue to inspire generations.
