You might have noticed that Chinese smartphones are everywhere these days. Quite simply, that is because they rival Nigeria-sold smartphones on design and features, but come at a much lower price. The Tecno Phantom 6 is one of the more expensive examples to come to your attention, available from Jiji.ng but it’s also one of the most powerful ones. In meantime, check what Phantom 6 has to offer.
Design & Display
There is little to note about the phone’s appearance. What is more remarkable is how pleasant and manageable the phone is, given that it employs a huge 5.5-inch display. However, it a handset that you will not be using single-handed. Tecno has built the Phantom 6 to a high standard, with a metal unibody design, that is available in Champagne Gold and Anthracite Gray. The display itself is a good Super AMOLED panel with 1920 x 1080 Pixels resolution and 420 PPI pixel density, which delivers punchy, vibrant colors and rich and proper blacks. Brightness and overall quality is not as high as you would find on Samsung’s Quad-HD phones, but it is certainly difficult to fault.
Specs & Hardware
The Phantom 6 is powered by a Helio X20 processor, backed up with 3GB RAM, while Mali-T860 GPU delivers great graphic performance and TrueBright ISP engine that delivers DSLR-quality images. Streaming video feed is stutter-free, and the phone does not clog up with multiple open apps. The device features 32GB of storage. However, you should note that there is microSD slot for expansion purposes. The Phantom 6 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, with the latest version of Tecno’s HiOS Phantom 1.1.0. Most other connectivity bases are covered, with support for dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS.
Tecno has fitted the Phantom 6 with a more-than-respectable 13-megapixel shooter alongside a 5-megapixel lens that will allow you to readjust the focus on your shots after you take them. Outside, in good lighting, and even indoors with good lighting, cameras capture some great shots. You do not get anything special in terms of the phone’s 5-megapixel front-facing camera, although it is more than enough for video chatting.
A 2700 mAh battery is an embarrassment. With more usage, you will not be able to clear one full day in between charges. But the fast speed charging technology, that is applied to match a 24-pin Type-C port raises charge speed by 30%. It gets your phone from 0% to 99% in just 90 minutes.
