Robbery Aftermath: Offa Constructs N400 Million Police Barrack

Offa community in the Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State has offered to build a N400 million police barrack as part of measures to ensure security of lives and property in the  town.

Speaking when a 2011 Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) governorship aspirant in the state, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman, paid a condolence visit to him in his palace at the weekend over the recent armed robbery incident in the town, Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, said that 130 mobile policemen have been drafted to the community to strengthen security and enforce law and order among the people.

The traditional ruler, who said that members of the local vigilance team in the community has also been better organised than before, added that they would complement efforts of men of the regular law enforcement agencies in the state.

The monarch also expressed optimism that commercial banks in the area would restart banking operations very soon to ameliorate cases of inconvenience and insecurity being suffered by residents who he said had to travel to Ilorin, the state capital for banking transactions.

The Offa monarch, who lamented that the town had been attacked four times by armed robbers in the past 10 years, said that the people of the town had picked up their pieces and that “life goes on.”

Also speaking, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who described the robbery incident in Offa  as an ambush, called on well-meaning Nigerians to come to the assistance of the people.
