Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in Kenya on Wednesday afternoon and was received with pomp and colour by his host President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Buhari who landed at the Eldoret International Airport shortly after 2:30pm received full State honours including a 21-gun salute from KDF officers.
Immediately after the arrival ceremonies, President Kenyatta and his guest held tete-a-tete before they left for Moi Barracks in Eldoret for an interdenominational memorial service in honour of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers who were killed in El Adde, Somalia following an Al-Shabaab ambush.
The service is also being attended by the Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who jetted into the country earlier in the morning.
The Somali leader was received by senior government officials led by the Deputy President William Ruto and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed.
The prayer meeting was the second that President Kenyatta was attending in a fortnight.
Last week, President Kenyatta led other political leaders and Government officials at a similar interdenominational service at the Armed Forces Memorial Hospital in Nairobi.
