Iran Condemns Borno Terrorist Attack

he Iranian foreign ministry deplored the suicide attacks on a mosque in Nigeria which killed over 20 people.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari condemned the attacks, and extended his condolences to the Nigerian nation and government over the death of the country’s citizens.

“Continued terrorist operations in different parts of the world shows the necessity for adopting necessary policies and measures for effective and all-out confrontation against terrorism and extremism,” he added.

Two female suicide bombers attacked a mosque in the Northeastern Nigerian city of Maiduguri, killing 22 worshippers, the army said on Wednesday.

The first bomber struck inside the mosque, while the second blew herself up outside as survivors tried to flee, eye witnesses said.

Eighteen other people were wounded in the attack, the army added.

Maiduguri is the birthplace of Boko Haram’s insurgency which has killed 20,000 people since 2009.
