OP-UNEDITED | Re: I Serve at the Pleasure of the President! – By Favour Afolabi

This saying is the number one American saying that I hear that always gives me goose pimples every other time that I hear it – I believe it is highest form of show of loyalty to ‘the boss’ when I hear that statement and I sort of feel that public officers in executive roles who do not say it loud and often enough do not deserve such jobs.

Here it is – it is the President that is elected not the officer he employs or appoints despite the legislative approvals needed for those jobs – he first works for that man in carrying out the visions of that man for the nation – that is why that man is elected for 4 years because the nation trusts unequivocally in him to steer the ship of the state for that time period – so I believe it is completely wrong for one those officials appointed by this one man ‘to have his own personal agenda’ while carrying out the job given to him by this one man.

Some would quickly question ‘should the official be loyal to the man or the nation?’ Actually you would most likely only hear that question from folks who are opponents of this elected president because you would expect anyone in his right mind to know that ‘No boss employs staffers expecting disloyalty in the process’ – something those asking such questions would not accept as individuals – of course if you work for the President and you discover he is taking actions ‘to intentionally bury the state’ you should speak up as ‘the good citizen’ you must be but it is immoral of you ‘shy away from’ this boss when it is apparent the attacks on him are coming from a very vicious and malicious political angle that seems determined to bring him down!

That would not be tantamount to being a good citizen but being a disloyal staffer – because in this instance it would suggest that you are choosing yourself and your career over your boss’ reputation, career, legacy and name – which begs the question – why work for a boss that you are not proud of? Or one ‘you are not willing to take a bullet for?’ I thought this was the whole idea of taking such a job for you to be bold enough to say ‘I serve at the pleasure of the President!’

Case in point – Sean Spicer – comes into the job running on all cylinders, throwing punches everywhere, fighting the President’s wars but became consumed too much ‘in defending himself than defending his boss’ agenda’ – I mean how do you as spokesperson for the President being to compete for more airtime than the President? The mistake here was that Sean believed deep down that ‘this was a drowning President that needed to be saved’ but he was dead wrong – this man has always fought his own battles and always won too – and it was unbelievably condescending of you to arrogate to yourself that role of ‘his knight in shiny armor.’

This Spicer’ Error will interestingly still be committed by others people that will work for Trump in the next 4 to 8 years on this job – some will keep asking themselves – ‘Do I really want to be part of this?’ Which I believe is a question they ought to have decided before taking such jobs.

Enter – Jeff Sessions – he should have quit the same day he recused himself from the Russian investigations. How does the A.G exit the biggest case in his department because he was pandering to pressure from anti-Trump elements. Why take the job knowing you can’t stand by your boss and the associated pressure that comes with it?

Trump should fire him today!

This same error will yet continue to be committed by some GOP members who feel that Trump courts too much controversy so rather than work with him to pass his agenda for the benefit of the American People and the growth of the party are trying to lean closer to the liberals pretending that ‘they were siding with the people against a modern day Hitler-of-a-tyrant’ – many of these ungrateful folks actually rode on the back of this same tyrant to power but now he seems too much of a baggage to carry around.

They belong to another level of disloyal folks – and it would interesting to see what happens to a lot of them during the midterm elections – I will like to see how they will go to their Republican constituencies to say ‘I don’t agree with the no 1 leader of the Republican party but I want your votes as a Republican’ and they also forget that despite all these backlash that Trump is facing he continues to maintain grassroots support among the same conservatives they will soon ‘be begging for votes.’

The funniest thing that could happen would be that the same democrats and liberals they have been siding with versus Trump will be the same ones to most likely kick them out of these seats if they lose the primaries in their own parties largely to the issues I raised in the last paragraph.
