Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen Monday launched an attack on the Catholic Secret Heart Minor Seminary located in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba state.
Although no life was lost, a priest was, however, shot by the attackers.
Confirming the attack, the Catholic Bishop of Jalingo Dioceses, Charles Hammawa, confirmed that one of his priests was “badly wounded with various degrees of gun injuries.”
The Bishop described the attack as “regrettable” and admonished the government to be more proactive with the issue of security in the state and the country at large.
“It is regrettable as a Church because we are only modelling the children to be good citizens of Nigeria and the world at large,” Hammawa said, adding that “it is disheartening that we are now being attacked unprovoked.”
