MODEST FAMILY | Buhari’s 16-Year Old Daughter Flies First Class to London

Hanan Aisha Buhari, 16-year-old daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari, reportedly flew first class on British Airways, BA, flight 083 to London from Abuja on Monday, SIGNAL can report.

An informed source who did not want to be named disclosed the details to SIGNAL on Monday. Hanan, a secondary school student, the source disclosed sat on Seat 2k aboard a British Airways flight from Abuja to London on Monday.

The development has also been corroborated by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, who alleged on Tuesday that despite the hardship and economic meltdown currently rocking the nation, “Hanan (Aisha) Buhari – 16yr old daughter of our president flew first class on BA flight 083 to London from Abuja”, the PDP official handle tweeted.

The development may have further cast another huge credibility question on the modest and anti-corruption credentials that got President Buhari elected on March 28, 2015.

It will be recalled that First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari wore a Cartier Baignoire Folle 18-Carat White Gold Diamond Ladies Watch that cost £34,500 (N10, 453, 000) to the presidential inauguration on May 29, 2015, a scandal which generated much furore in the Nigerian social media.

Buhari played up his modest background while on the campaign trail, claiming he was a pastoral farmer with 150 cows who could barely afford to pay for his presidential nomination form. More than 50 percent of Nigerians live below the international poverty line of $1.25 per day, according to the United Nations.

Buhari was appointed Chairman of Nigeria’s Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) during the regime of Nigeria’s late dictator, General Sani Abacha – a period in Nigeria’s oil revenue expenditure that has never come under any serious probe or enquiry. The sum of N25 billion allegedly disappeared from the public treasury at the time.
