Andrea Pirlo to Link Up With Antonio Conte at Chelsea

Andrea Pirlo has hinted at the idea that he could be set for a reunion with his former Juventus manager Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

The 38-year-old announced yesterday that he will retire from playing football in December when the MLS finishes and his contract runs out with New York City.

Pirlo is highly expected to return to football and go into coaching when he does finally hang up the boots at the end of the year, with many clubs being no doubt interested in taking him.

Conte and Pirlo have a decent relationship after their time together at both Juve and when Conte was Italy manager, so naturally people think the two might link up again with the Blues.

“You realise that the time has come,” Pirlo told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “Every day you have physical problems, you are no longer able to train as you would like because you always have some problem.

“At my age you have to say enough. It is not as if you can keep going till you are 50. I will do something else.

“My future, I don’t know yet. I will will return to Italy in December. An assistant to Conte? People are saying that. I have my ideas but I need time to decide.”
